Chili Cook-Off 2016

Island View Drive and Area Ratepayers Association (IVDAARA) will be hosting

“The Great Island View Chili Cook-Off”

Saturday September 24, 2016

between 11:30 am and 2:00 pm at the United Church in Kemble.

This Cook-Off is intended to be a break-even event and is being held as a fun, social event for IVDAARA members but not restricted to members. Others in our community, friends, neighbours and relatives are most welcome to attend as well.  Pass the word.  Bring your family, friends and neighbours.  Working together to build a better community.

The Great Island View Chili Cook-Off Committee is extremely pleased to announce our six fabulous Chili Cooking Teams.  To these cookers many thanks in advance for offering up your chili recipe for all to taste.

Team # 1 – Defending 2015 Champion Keith Davidson with his “Pipin’ Hot Cabin Chili Team” (Pipin’ as in bagpiping) cooking up his “Red Hot Chili Pepper Piper’s Dynamite Chili”.  Keith unfortunately is unable to attend due to another engagement but has kindly agreed to cook his chili and have someone else serve it for him.

Team # 2 – Sandi Bowman  – “Whip-Poor-Willy’s Chili”

Team # 3 – Ken McPherson – Challenging Scot with Jackie Gleason sampled dish that inspired the phrase “How sweet it is.”

Team # 4 – Cal Confer / David (Just call Cook’s) McArthur (100 year-old secret family recipe)

Team # 5 – Marie Simpson / Ken Sly – “Cedar Hill Billys” Billie and Billy Clodhopper with their “Hillbilly Buzzard and Bean Chili”

Team # 6 – Pam and Bill Wilson – “The Egyptians” – Antony and Cleopatra with their “Succulent Egyptian Chili”

Best of luck to all our great Chili Cooking Teams!

We encourage all attending to dress in their best chili cook-off attire whatever that may be: Western, Mexican, Southern, Hillbilly, Hawaiian.  Cooking teams may want to wear something appropriate e.g. chef’s hats, aprons, bibs, and/or make up a sign for your team.  We encourage good neighbour rivalry.
